The Interfaith Committee comprises Broward-area faith leaders and domestic violence agencies working collaboratively to raise awareness about family violence across all communities. Our mission includes providing comfort to families who have lost loved ones to domestic violence, Fort Lauderdale promoting accountability for abusers, and supporting survivors in rebuilding their lives.
Domestic violence affects countless individuals across our communities. Statistics show that approximately 20 people per minute experience physical abuse by an intimate partner in the United States, totaling more than 10 million individuals annually.
While organizations like Destiny's Purpose are dedicated to helping survivors find safety, many victims remain silent due to persistent barriers and stigma. To address this challenge, agencies throughout Broward and Palm Beach Counties are coordinating collaborative events for Domestic Violence Awareness Month and invite your participation.
As part of these initiatives, the Interfaith Committee hosts an annual "There is Hope After Trauma Gala" honoring domestic violence victims, survivors, and their families. Reflecting Broward's religious diversity and spirit of inclusion, faith leaders from major religious organizations across Broward and Palm Beach Counties participate in this solemn ceremony, reading the names of those who lost their lives to domestic violence since the previous January. Information regarding the November 2025 event will be announced soon.
